No Offense, Mika

So I don't ever usually post more than once a day, cause that's just nuts, but I have to share what just happened cause I can't stop laughing....

My daughter was playing in her room with my son, and they were trying to get the gerbils to come out and crawl around in her baseball cap, which is something they love to do these days. Well, I happen to be listening to music today -- because that's all I ever do... and "Lollipop" by Mika had just come on. So... as I was walking by her room, she yelled to me, in a pretty disgusted tone..."Mommy, I think Cuddly's embarrassed." So I thought she was crazy and I went in her room and said "Why would he be embarrassed??" and she said (in an even more disgusted tone of voice) "Because of this SONG."

LOL!! Yeah, ok I can see that. Oh man, I almost died.

Scary Dream...

I had a dream last night that really disturbed me... I had another baby. She was a little girl, with short blonde hair, and she was all dressed in red for some reason. I didn't experience the pregnancy, she was just suddenly there, rolling around on the floor and I was playing with her. And I thought to myself (in the dream)....... I can't even wake up and say "oh it was just a dream. Oh my God, what am I gonna do??"

Sorry, absolutely no offense to anyone who's about to have a baby (Becky), but
for me - having another baby would be a very bad thing. Don't get me wrong - babies are wonderful, I ADORE my children and am happy and thankful to be a Mommy. I just know we can't handle a third - mostly because I couldn't handle it physically. But I look forward to babysitting any babies that might come along from other people in my family :)

David is FIVE

My little man turned five today.... I can't believe how time flies. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was feeling him rolling around and kicking me all day and night... I am so happy to have such a beautiful little boy who loves me SO MUCH. He got to share his 5th birthday with his WHOLE family -- Becky, Taylor and the boys were here, Megan was here, and so was Olivia! It was great...

Doesn't he look just like Jeff in this picture?? Scary :)

Clean Teeth & Fuzzy Sweaters

So, I took the day off today so I could be with my kids at their dentist appointment, and I am proud to say that our children have gotten to the ripe old ages of 8 and almost 5....with no cavities :) It doesn't really shock me, actually. We don't let them drink pop, for one thing, and I figure that has to have a huge influence on things... Samantha was given some "lemon lime pop" to drink last weekend at a birthday party, and all I heard from her the whole time was how much she hated the taste and the bubbles. Pop is their "sick drink" -- they have it when their tummies are feeling funny. Now if only we could get them to hate candy....
Alright, while I'm here, I'd just like to vent about the sweater I'm wearing today. It's super soft (so much so that my son has been hugging me all day just so he could feel it), and it's red, and it's AWESOME in general, but it's shedding stupid tiny fuzzies everywhere..... I'm noticing as I type this that the fuzzies are gravitating to the computer screen, and I gotta say, I am feeling a tiny bit disappointed in the Gap...

Kids know more than we realize...

My little almost 8 year old daughter drew this tonight
- all on her own -
for her little brother....
A picture of New York City.
She was very proud of it...and yeah, she should be - she's a great little artist, regardless. I just didn't know what to say. I asked her what made her think to draw that for New York, and she said she didn't know, she just remembers that "those buildings burned and fell down" and she knows that "some people were killed"... She was only 14 months old when it happened, and it's not like she's been exposed to much about it, but... Anyway, she was in a perfectly good mood when she showed me this, so I will just chalk it up to her wanting to draw yet another picture for her baby brother! But this one's going in the memory box for sure.

14 Years

14 Years ago today, we said our last goodbye to my Uncle Tommy... he died of Nasopharyngeal cancer, a disease he battled for five long years, in the very early hours of January 18th, 1994 and was laid to rest on the 21st.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be morbid. I just miss him so much still, it's like it happened yesterday. He was a very talented drummer, pretty well-known around Buffalo in the 70's and 80's, before he first got sick in 1989. He used to take me with him to rehearsals and I loved standing in front of his drum set while he practiced.... (and so, out came my obsession with songs that have loud, strong drums in them.) But most of all, he was an amazing, strong, fun, hilarious, inspirational man, and the best Uncle a little girl could ask for... I know my sister feels the same way. I just hope the people who knew him never, ever forget him.
